First purchase for nursey and kitchen ideas

Jessie Ann and I had so much fun yesterday morning. We went looking for kitchen island ideas to increase the storage since the current kitchen overflow is in the soon to be baby's room. First we went to Nadeau and looked at some cool wood pieces.  They had good, cute stuff but nothing was quite right. So we headed to Ikea. We found great stuff there. First this awesome grey island that has drawers on one side, with optional microwave and stools on the other side with cabinets underneath. You can choose different tops, and we think it would look great with a butcher block.  Additionally there is a matching wall unit with glass cabinets we could add if we wanted to get really crazy.

Jessie also helped me make the first purchase for the baby. We found awesome storage cubes and boxes in the nursery colors: aqua, yellow and orange.  Since these things are seasonal at Ikea and the colors change and disappear from time to time we went ahead and got four of each knowing we could use or return.  Hooray! Glad to make this first purchase with my sister.

Now off to win a tennis match!

Birthday and Basketball

Yesterday was fun, exciting and busy. In the morning I dropped Ryan off to umpire a game in Sandy Springs
And then headed to Kennesaw for EmmaKate's first birthday party. It was a blast. The food was delicious: chicken and waffles, pb & banana on nilla wafers, pigs n a blanket, so many choices and oh so good. And the little kids loved playing outside with bubbles. After some fun friend time I headed back to pick up Ryan
We were off to Sarah and Pradeep's to watch basketball. They had a great set up with a TV outside, it was so fun and the weather was perfect.  Of course there was delicious food, Sarah style: hotdogs, sausages, coleslaw, baked beans, noodle salad... so much good stuff. I took Aunt Robbin's marinated cheese and it was a huge hit. We watched all the games, caught up with friends and made some new ones. Great afternoon, into the night with great friends!
Such a fun Saturday, good memories, tons of food. Totally worth all the driving.

Soon to be Family of Three

This was an exciting weekend - on Friday night (3/14) I felt the baby move for the first time!  It was super cool.  Saturday morning Ryan played a 3 set super close tennis match and luckily was able to pull it out in the tie break at the end.  Ralph and I were there to support him

Finally on rainy day Sunday we took it easy.  Just cleaned up the house a little and started making room for the baby.  Cleaning out the room that will be their's.  Still a ton to do but it was a good start.
