Standing up and sippy cups

Last weekend Paige started drinking a little water from her pink sippy cup. She has already gotten quite good at holding it and is figuring out the drinking thing. The same day we were playing on the floor and as I was holding her standing up she reached out for her walking toy. She is able to hold herself up and balance for almost a minute. Pretty impressive!

So fun and fancy!

Ryan and I were invited to our friend Zach's birthday party on Friday night and on Saturday we had plans to attend The Taste of Love which is the fundraising gala for the epilepsy foundation. We were excited about our fun events and so glad when my mom volunteered to come stay the weekend and be Paige's babysitter. I'm not sure who had the most fun; Ryan and I loved our dinner at Bones and had a great time at the gala, but Paige and her CeCe were all smiles and ate, played and slept both nights. It was a fantastic weekend and in true Mathison girl fashion involved a pair of new shoes for Paige. Thanks for the help Mom! We love you!

The girl who ate everything

On January 10th Paige was exposed to table food for the first time. She sucked on some banana slices, smashed them in her fists and maybe swallowed a bite or two. In just a little over three weeks she has learned how to efficiently get food in her mouth, chew with her gums and swallow.
The list of food she has eaten grows everyday and she has seemed to like everything: bananas, avocados, oranges, clementines, steamed broccoli, baked apples, hummus, pancakes, scrambled egg and cucumbers. Tonight we had chicken and dumplings and since the chicken was so tender she had her first bite of meat and loved it. Watching her eat and feed herself makes us so proud. She is doing so well and we feel great about skipping traditional baby food, exposing her to solids and letting her feed herself.

What a weekend

We have had a great weekend. Friday night Paige showed off her new skill, sitting up unassisted. She was so proud of herself and even corrected her balance a few times before she toppled over. Even just a day later she plays sitting up for long stretches of time. Such a strong girl.

Yesterday our dinner club started back up after a five month and four baby producing break. We shared chili, appetizers, dessert and drinks together. As always it was a great time and went by too fast. Paige is the oldest and was the most interested in the other babies, even reaching out to touch their hands and faces. The others weren't so interested yet but I'm sure this will change quickly and I'm looking forward to starting this monthly tradition back up and watching these precious ones grow together.
